A Better Way is all about training people to be a voice for change in their church, community and workplaces. Our passion is to bring quality training courses with real world results which will prepare participants with the necessary skills to bring real help to real people and if necessary directing people to the appropriate professional help.
Mental Health Awareness (2hrs)
The Mental Health Awareness course is designed to increase mental health literacy and understanding in the church context.
Through engaging group activities, personal reflection and case study discussion participants are empowered to break the silence around metal health in the church and be a advocate for change and awareness.
Participants will learn about the current state of mental health in the church and how we can help bring change. We also look at how to engage with people who are in need of assistance.
The course duration is run over one 2 hours session.
This course is suitable for church members, ministry leaders, small group leaders, youth and kids ministry leaders.

Conversations about suicide (4hrs)
The Conversations about suicide course teaches participants how to provide initial support to someone who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviours, until professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
Course participants learn how to recognise and respond to suicidal thoughts and behaviours, provide support and encourage pathways to professional help.
Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, participants learn how to approach someone they are concerned about and initiate a conversation about those concerns. Participants also learn how to offer initial support and information and how to encourage the person to seek professional help or other supports.
This course is recognised by Suicide Prevention Australia as a safe, high-quality, and effective suicide prevention program.
This course is suitable for church members, ministry leaders, small group leaders, youth and kids ministry leaders.

Avoiding Burnout (4hrs)
The Avoiding Burnout course is designed to help leaders in all areas of the church evaluate and respond to the risks of burnout in ministry.
Participants in this course will reflect upon the current state of ministry burnout and causes. They will learn real life usable skills which they are encouraged to implement in their personal lives. Being equiped to recognise and respond to their mental, emotional and spiritual health. and learning how to maintain longevity in ministry and finish well.
The course duration is run over two 2 hours sessions.
This course is suitable for all areas of church leadership, from board level and ministry leaders through to small group leaders.

Mental Health First Aid (12hrs)
Mental Health First Aid is an early‑intervention education course for adults in the community and workplace. Participants learn to increase their mental health literacy and learn practical skills that will support a co-worker or another adult, experiencing a mental health problem.
Increasing mental health literacy within the community and workplaces through targeted training, helps increase resilience and understanding in our community and workplaces. The course also comes with a 3 year nationally recognised accreditation.
The course duration is run over two 6 hour sessions or four 3 hour session.
This course is suitable for everybody who is interested and has a heart for improving how we understand and engage those with mental ill health in the church.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (12hrs)
The Youth Mental Health First Aid course teaches participants how to provide initial support to a young person (aged 12–18) who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received, or the crisis resolves.
Participants learn the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adolescents, how to recognise and respond to an emerging or worsening mental health problem, and the treatments and supports available.
Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, participants learn how to approach a young person they are concerned about and initiate a conversation about those concerns. Participants also learn how to offer initial support and information and how to help a young person to seek professional help or other supports.
This course offers a three year nationally recognised accreditation and is suitable for people supporting young people, such as teachers and youth workers and church youth leaders.
